How do you connect your Welvaere hot tub's UV filter and filtration system? (hot tub purchased before June 4, 2024)

Follow these steps and easily connect the filter system and UV filter to the hot tub.

UV Filter Preparation:

  1. Take off the lid: If you have a filter box, remove the filter box lid.
  2. UV lamp: Open the provided box that contains the UV lamp. Open the lamp at the bottom by the black swivel to remove the lamp from the blue tube. Remove the protective cardboard from the lamp.
  3. Inserting the lamp: Place the UV lamp back into the tube, ensuring the rubbers stay in place and the lamp slides back into the quartz glass correctly. The lamp will not turn on if it is not correctly inserted. Slide the lamp so that the pallet of the glass sleeve goes into the slot on the black part of the lamp. Firmly hand-tighten the black swivel.
  4. Plug in: Push the plug of the lamp into the bottom of the holder.

Connecting the System:

  1. Hose: Connect the bottom hose with the black swivel coming out of the hot tub to the circulation pump. First, remove the tape on the pump that holds the rubber in place.
  2. UV light and filter pump: Connect the UV light to the filter pump at the blue swivel. Ensure the plug on the UV lamp is pointing down. Then connect the hose from the hot tub to the UV lamp with the blue swivel. Tighten all connections firmly by hand to prevent leakage. Do not use pliers!

Finishing Touches:

  1. Venting: For proper operation, the filter system must be bled. While filling the hot tub, loosen the large clear cap (the coarse filter) on the circulation pump, let a little water run out, and tightly close the cap again. This will remove air from the system.
  2. Check the washers: Ensure that all rubber washers are attached to the swivels and drain caps. This prevents leakage. Hand-tighten everything again.

Putting into Use:

  1. Filling and connecting: Make sure the hot tub is filled before connecting the filter system and UV filter to the power supply. Both have a plug. The UV filter should always be underwater and running along with the circulation pump when it is on. If the UV lamp is on without circulating water, it will get too hot and burn out quickly.
  2. Operation: On the filter pump's ground fault circuit interrupter, you will find two buttons. "Reset" turns the system on, and "Test" turns it off. There is no ground fault switch on the UV lamp.

Reminder:

Never run the filter pump on power without water, and always make sure the UV filter is underwater when it is on. This prevents the lamp from overheating and breaking. Always turn them on and off simultaneously to avoid this. The UV lamp should never be on without water circulation!
