These steps describe the installation of the roof for both wood stove and electric stove options.
Installing the Roof with a Wood Stove
Placing the First Layer of Shingles:
- Position the Shingles:
- Place the first layer of shingles upside down to ensure there are no gaps. The bottom edge should be flush with the protruding part of the rain guide.
- Secure the Shingles:
- Remove the foil from the adhesive strip and press the strip against the wood.
- Drive asphalt nails through the shingle at the red dots.
Completing the First Row:
- Finish the Row:
- Complete the first row by driving asphalt nails at the indicated points.
Installing the Second Row of Shingles:
- Position the Second Row:
- Start with the second row of shingles, turning them over. Align the bottom of the shingles with the previous row.
- Secure the Shingles:
- Stick the adhesive strip in place and drive asphalt nails into the red indicated points again.
Completing the Second Row:
- Finish the Row:
- Complete the row with asphalt nails and adhesive strips.
Installing the Next Rows:
- Position and Secure:
- Place each shingle slightly to the side to form the pattern shown below. Secure each strip of shingles with the adhesive strip and asphalt nails as shown above.
- Other Side:
- Also lay the shingles on the other side of the roof.
Installing the Ridge Shingles:
- Start at One End:
- Start at one end and work your way back.
- Drive an asphalt nail into the ridge shingle as shown below. The next ridge shingle will overlap this nail.
- Secure the Shingles:
- Place the next shingle halfway over the previous one and nail it in place.
Finishing the Ridge Shingles:
- Lay and Secure:
- Lay the shingles until they stop and nail them all in place as shown.
Installing the Roof with an Electric Heater
Installing the First Layer of Shingles:
- Position the Shingles:

- Secure the Shingles:
- Remove the foil from the adhesive strip and press the strip against the wood.
- Hammer asphalt nails through the shingle at the red dots.

- Complete the first row by hammering asphalt nails at the indicated points.
Installing the Second Row of Shingles:
- Position the Second Row:
- Start with the second row of shingles, turning them over. Align the bottom of the shingles with the previous row.

- Stick the adhesive strip in place and hammer asphalt nails into the red indicated points again.
Finishing the Second Row:
- Finish the Row:
- Complete the row with asphalt nails and adhesive strips.

- Place each roof shingle slightly to the side to form the pattern shown below. Attach each strip of shingles with the adhesive strip and asphalt nails as indicated above.
- Other Side:
- Also place the shingles on the other side of the roof.

- Hammer an asphalt nail into the ridge shingle as indicated below. The next ridge shingle overlaps this nail.
- Secure the Shingles:
- Place the next shingle halfway over the previous one and nail it in place.

- Lay the shingles until they stop and nail them all in place as indicated.
