How do I ensure a surface that is level?

Before your Tønsauna can be installed, the surface must be sturdy, stable and completely level are. This is the only way the sauna stands up, closes the door properly and keeps the wood in balance during temperature changes.

Why a level surface is important

A crooked surface can lead to:

• Extra effect of the wood, which reduces the lifespan;

• Instability, which causes the sauna to be unevenly loaded;

How to check whether the surface is level

Level the soil

Existing paved surface (such as tiles or concrete)

1. Make sure the tiles are flush.

Non-paved soil (such as sand or soil)

1. Loosen the soil with a shovel or auger and remove roots, rocks and obstructions.
2. Fill low spots with clean sand, soil or filling material.
3. Equalize with a rake or shovel until the surface is flat.
4. Check regularly with the level to make sure the level is the same.
5. Compacts the soil with a vibration plate (available for rent at hardware stores) to prevent sagging.
6. Check again and adjust where necessary.
