Can I oil, paint or stain the inside of the sauna?

No, the saunas that you purchase from Welvaere have to be on the inside not treated to become. In fact, if you do this, the wood can no longer breathe and there is an increased risk of mold and rot.

When you close the wood with oil, paint or stain, the moisture that is released in the sauna can no longer go out through the wood. It can then only leave through the vents. As a result, moisture remains in the wood and causes the rotting process from within.

How do you maintain the inside of your sauna?

• Monthly cleaning: Wipe the walls and benches with a slightly damp cloth, without cleaning agents.
• Sanding annually: Sand the benches lightly to keep them fresh and smooth.
• Hygiene tips: Always enter the sauna with clean feet and use a towel on the benches. This way, the wood stays clean and beautiful longer.
