What materials are the hot tubs made of?

The materials we use for the Ducktub hot tubs last for years.

Shell: glass-fibre reinforced plastic with gel coating

The tub is the heart of the hot tub and must be comfortable, strong and durable. That's why our tubs are made of multiple layers of glass fiber reinforced plastic. This material is known for its high strength, low weight and excellent insulating properties.

The finish is done with a high-quality MPG gel coating (Marine Performance Gelcoat) in the color RAL 7035 (light grey). This coating offers excellent protection against discoloration, wear and osmosis. Thanks to the smooth finish, dirt adheres less quickly and cleaning is done in no time. Unlike acrylic, PE or PP tubs, our finish is much smoother and more comfortable. Thanks to its insulating properties, the water also stays warm longer.

Frame: sustainable and natural thermowood

By default, all Ducktubs are surrounded with thermowood, a natural and durable material that is specially treated with heat and steam - without chemicals. This changes the cellular structures in the wood, making it less susceptible to moisture, fungi and wood rot.

The result? A resin-free wood finish with durability class 2 (similar to tropical hardwoods) and a lifespan of 15 to 25 years. The deep, warm color gives your hot tub a stylish and natural look.

Heaters: strong stainless steel 304 or stainless steel 316

Our wood-fired stoves are made of high-quality stainless steel:

  • 304 STAINLESS STEEL: used for the Welstove Medium. Strong material, but more sensitive to salt and chlorine.
  • 316 STAINLESS STEEL: used for the Welstove Large and Pro. Extra corrosion resistant, ideal for use on the coast or in combination with chlorine.

This way, you can choose what best suits your environment and use.

Optional systems: Balboa top quality

For bubbles, jets, lighting or electric heating, we only use systems from Balboa — an American A-brand and global market leader in spa and hot tub technology.

These systems are known for their reliability, longevity and ease of use. Welvaere is the only one in the Netherlands that offers these high-quality systems as standard in its hot tubs.
