How to Install the Ventilation Grid in the DIY Sauna

Read here the steps for installing ventilation in the sauna, distinguishing between a wood stove and an electric stove.

If You Have a Wood Stove, Follow These Steps:

Determine and Cut Out Hole for Chimney:

  1. Mark the Circle:
    • Mark out a circle 25 cm in diameter at the top center of the sauna. The center of the circle should be 33 cm from the back of the sauna (without arches).
  2. Cut the Circle:
    • Cut out the circle with a jigsaw and remove the cut wood.

Ventilation Grates Placement:

  1. Drill/Cut Holes:
    • Drill or cut the hole for the ventilation grille at the front and back of the sauna to the dimensions indicated.
  2. Full Panorama Window:
    • For a full panorama window, place both vents in the front wall (one on the upper right and one on the lower left of the veranda bench).
  3. Screw Vents in Place:
    • Screw the front and rear vents in place with three supplied screws. Ensure the metal grille is on the outside.

If You Have an Electric Heater, Follow These Steps:

Drilling Hole for Cable Connection:

  1. Drill the Hole:
    • Drill an 18-mm hole for the stove's cable through the tile, flooring, and shuttering to the outside. The hole should be 14 cm from the back of the tile.

Placing and Connecting the Stove:

  1. Place the Stove:
    • Place the stove according to the stove instructions and pull the cable out through the hole. Fill the stove with stones only after a successful test.
  2. Screw the Switch Box:
    • Screw the switch box onto the rear slipper of the sauna (left or right) and pull the stove cable to it. Have a qualified electrician connect the electrics.

Ventilation Grills Install:

  1. Drill/Cut Holes:
    • Drill or cut the hole for the vent on the front and back of the sauna to the dimensions indicated.
  2. Full Panoramic Window:
