Can I use chlorine in my hot tub?

Yes, you can use chlorine in your hot tub. In fact: chlorine is the most powerful and effective agent to keep the water in your hot tub clean and free of bacteria. However, using chlorine requires a little more attention and knowledge, because the right balance in the water is essential for safe and effective operation.

For chlorine to work properly, the alkalinity and pH value of the water must be in balance:

• Alkalinity must be between 80 and 120. This ensures that the pH remains stable.
• pH value must be between 7.2 and 7.6. If the pH is too low, the chlorine breaks down too quickly; if the pH is too high, the chlorine works less effectively and skin or eye irritation can occur.

So never use more chlorine than prescribed and check the water values regularly.
