I have cracks in my sauna, how do I fix this?

Small cracks in your sauna occur due to the effect of the wood during temperature changes. You solve this by tightening the straps.

Due to the changes in temperature and the effect of the wood, cracks may occur between the back wall and the sauna bars. This is what we call the capillary effect of the wood. Don't worry: this is a natural process and you can easily fix it yourself.

We recommend doing this twice a year:

  • Once during the transition from winter to spring
  • Once when transitioning from summer to autumn

How to tighten the straps:

  1. On one side of the sauna, you see two threaded ends with nuts on the stainless steel strap.
  2. Loosen the nuts slightly — but not completely loosen them.
  3. Using a rubber mallet, knock each beam at the front and back walls. This ensures that the bars slide back together properly.
  4. Then tighten the nuts firmly. If they can't go on, it's secure.

Outcome

After tightening, the bars close nicely again and the cracks disappear completely. This way, your sauna stays well insulated and looks like new again.
